About this deal

The good thing about the Holga is that it weighs nearly nothing, so you don’t need an expensive tripod – just about any will do. Using a Holga there’s never too much to say about the technicalities - you load your film, guestimate the distance to your subject, point it in the general direction and hope for the best! For many, the Holga evolved to become a symbol of resistance to the all-consuming technological boom of the late 20th century.

Holga HL(W)-OP – A 25 mm f/8 Holga lens with Micro Four-Thirds mount, with lettering for Olympus PEN cameras. I love this little 120 camera it's easy and fun to use and compared to my other cameras it's much lighter. If you found this post helpful or if you’d like to see more of my work, I’d love it if you considered signing up for my Patreon! Free cameras are often tempting, but it’s different when you and the camera in question already have a history.Filters come in special effect filters, color filters, and center spot filters (which leaves a normal center, but a coloured surrounding). As a patron, you’ll receive free prints mailed directly to you as well as access to never-before-seen images.

An optical viewfinder makes it easy to compose your image, and the camera's lens provides the unique look Holga cameras are known for. Users may reduce interior reflections with matte black spray paint, or add Velcro straps to affix the back more securely. Alex Luyckx of Classic Camera Revival fame wrote about the fun he had with his in CCR Review 69 – Holga 120N. It’s a medium format scale focus camera equipped with a wide 60mm f/8 lens and a rotary shutter that stays fixed at about 1/100th of a second. Others Holgas have been modified to include cable releases, tripod mounts (lacking on the original 120S), and even to shoot 35mm film.Every so often when I wanted to be a little lighter hearted, I would put my Nikon away and just carry the Holga. Many people use electrical tape to cover areas of the camera so they can design the leaks to their artistic preferences.

Holga Enlargers, an inexpensive darkroom enlarger with two available lenses and several masks/negative carriers for both 120 and 35 mm formats. The origins of Holga began in 1981 during a time when 120 “medium format” film was very popular in China. Realized I vastly prefer this than direct sun – shadows are just as unforgiving with film as with digital images. It comes with a 60mm meniscus lens and apertures of possibly f/8 and f/11 although these are debatable. It really is so incredibly low-tech, you literally have to crank the film for every exposure you take. Part of the charm stems from the fact that there is not much of a decision to make shooting a Holga 120N.

You get a surprisingly wide tonal range, lots of grain, and an unpredictable element to the finished photos. Shutters have been known to stick and destroy perfectly good exposures, and a lack of padding behind the film spools can make film wind on loosely, fogging up entire rolls of film. While most of the equipment was thrown out, Lee kept the ones to make a 120 camera out of sentimental value, even though he retired.

So many weddings have flown by, and more and more couples want to do some Holga photos, which I’m stoked for!
