About this deal

In June 2006, the producers signed a deal with Nintendo that made the Nintendo DS a prominent feature in the film, much like the Power Glove in The Wizard.

One afternoon, with no explanation, IanRider had taken him to a local club for his first les-son and he had been going there, once a week, eversince. The novel opens as fourteen-year-old Alex Rider learns that his uncle and legal guardian, Ian Rider, has been killed in a car crash. Can he become what he was always destined to be and fully realize his true potential as a secret-agent for the government? Knowing his audience he’s managed to find his niche and work on it effectively, as he continues to create material of a high standard. Sayle has pledged to give a free Stormbreaker to every school in England and to activate them in a grand ceremony in the London Science Museum, presumably as a gift of gratitude to his adoptive country. The major themes of the novel include coming to terms with death and mortality, and the need to harness the power of technology for good rather than evil. Snatching up a harpoon gun, Alex rushes outside to find that Sayle's private helicopter has already left, leaving only a cargo plane on the tarmac.

While investigating the base at night, Alex smuggles himself into a convoy going down to the harbour, where he sees several of Sayle's agents unloading metal cases with great care from a Chinese nuclear submarine, with Yassen supervising. Setting up the ‘Alex Rider’ series, it creates the overall tone and feel for the books, whilst also establishing many of the main characters. After attempting to escape from the facility, he is captured, and Sayle explains his true reasons behind Stormbreaker – each system contains a modified version of the smallpox virus which, upon activation in the Stormbreaker release, will kill all of the country's schoolchildren. His two children now are said to help him with ideas providing new material and fresh insight for his many books to come.

At the same time, he became aware thatthe machines had started again and he could nolonger hear the men. Blunt’seyes, magnified by the thick lenses of his spectacles, lasered into his own, and for a moment, Alex felt him-self pinned down, like an insect under a microscope. How could he possiblythink about algebra when there were so many otherquestions churning through his mind? Suddenly, Yassen arrives unexpectedly in a helicopter and kills Sayle (in the same manner he did Ian) before rescuing Alex and Sabina.
