About this deal

There is a heel counter that wraps almost into the midfoot, yet is still cushioned enough that it did not irritate my heel. Smoothening out the heel bevel and integrating it with the midsole better could make this a shoe of the year type of trainer. It feels faster and lighter than ever but with a plush upper that keeps things comfy for my entire workout. The Ride 15 feels softer than most of the popular daily trainers out there including the Pegasus 38, Ghost 14, Clifton 8.

Saucony Ride 14 review | TechRadar

Weight is as promised Keeps your feet free from strain and impact Runs smoothly but NOT for tempo runs Ride 15 is quite stable for a neutral shoe A big no-no for cold conditions The Saucony Ride 15 fits just right! The Ride 14 fits true to length—all our reviewers found a comfortable fit in their typical sizes—and its soft fabrics give it a premium feel. The 14 has a slightly different look this year, offering a bit more cushion to the tongue yet less around the heel than in the past, with more reflective material added to a similar-looking upper. When partial gussets are done well like they are on the Ride 14, I prefer them over a fully gusseted tongue every time.Guide’s midsole PWRRUN foam is actually more flexible than it feels while running, with the medial post keeping the shoe from bending past midfoot. The mix of cushioning that offers some pop, snug-fitting upper and durable grip gives it the kind of profile to make it well suited to a range of runners and distances from shorter distances up to marathon distance. Whether you’re doing an easy run or logging uptempo miles, the running shoes you wear for most of your workouts need to be comfortable.

It’s a bit more firm under foot than I think it should be, leaving a bit to be desired in pep and bounce. For the second year, Guide’s upper employs FORMFIT technology, which includes the remnant from the ISOFIT models of an attached tongue, with mesh that hugs both sides of the midfoot and keeps the tongue from moving around. OUR VERDICT Saucony Guide 14 is a quality stability shoe that gets the job done with a standout upper and average underfoot experience. Guide to Hurricane is similar to Adrenaline to Transcend (now replaced by Glycerin) in the Brooks lineup. My only real recommendation for this trainer would be the same as Matt's, the heel contact can still feel a tad choppy, but it is a great improvement from the past model.

It’s not a stand-out in any single niche, but it's an all-around shoe that works well for a variety of needs. We believe that it comes from the combination of the midsole shape, the foam firmness, and the fact that our heels sit deeper inside the shoe. For most runners this shoe will be able to handle most runs, although those wanting a bit more cushioning should look for something like the Triumph 18 ( REVIEW). The springy PWRRUN midsole balances a cushy ride with a quick response, which gives it versatility for different distances and paces. That reduction in weight mainly lies in its FormFit mesh upper, which uses a thinner construction inside of the upper with some material reduced at the top of the shoe.

Flex grooves are less effective in forefoot plated shoes, as the sole will likely not bend enough to require them. I do not feel like they are cement coffins for the foot like some stability shoes can be and appreciate they are not too squishy and are firm (Achilles concern. The PWRRUN-packing midsole offers an enjoyable ride and strikes a good balance between giving that bouncy feel underfoot and still feeling controlled and stable. So if the sole is thick enough that flex grooves may lead to structural failure or have no effect, toe spring is the next best thing to maintain some form of the natural forefoot rocker (aka toe extension). The forefoot rocker, ie toe extension, is very important for maintaining forward momentum durming toe off. However, many people like a slightly stiffer, more consistent, and tempered shoe and the Ride 14 fits the bill well if you’re one of those runners.
