About this deal

On a larger level, it is my belief that the book helps lengthen breastfeeding terms because it gives an option to exhausted moms other than cold turkey full weaning. We don't have much sun in the Pacific Northwest in the winter--I use a color-changing light to mark morning instead--but the book still helped prepare Lily for the concept, which was invaluable. In Nursies, a toussle-haired toddler is snuggled up in bed with mom and dad, ready to go to sleep for the night, the family's grey striped cat snoozing soundly at their feet. We are just about to try night weaning so I am reading it to her and at 22 months she seems to enjoy it.

This bigger, brighter paperback edition of Eric Hill's iconic first lift-the-flap book celebrates 30 years since first publication in hardback. Motherhood changed me in so many ways and my journey became about making the world a gentler place for babies and children. We read to our 16 month old and at his age, you could really see in his face, his understanding of what was going to happen, of sleeping until the sun comes up. In addition to helping the child understand the concept of sleeping when it's dark and nursing when it's light, it also has weaning tips for parents at the back of the book. And while we do this occasionally, I am not interested in promoting it as a way to night wean my toddler. When the toddler wakes at night for “nursies,” mom shows her baby that it’s dark outside, and assures baby that she’ll have nursies when the sun shines.

Night feeding is not an easy thing to give up, but I knew when I was ready, even if she wasn't quite. I was hesitant to choose this one but was hoping the beautiful illustrations mentioned would win us over. The story is simply a family going to bed at night, the child waking up in the middle of the night (seeing that it is still dark outside), and then again in the morning to nurse. Havener JD IBCLC CLC is a Board Certified Lactation Consultant, a Certified Lactation Counselor, and a retired La Leche League Leader. Hopefully, a toddler that sleeps through the night (or mostly sleeps through the night); a mom that is more rested and thus has more patience and sanity during the day; and a toddler that has come through the nightweaning process still bonded, attached and feeling loved.a tout de suite voulu le lire plusieurs fois, et je crois qu’elle commence à intégrer les notions développées. I enjoy letting my toddler turn the pages with me and I don't even want her to touch this book because it's so fragile. Here is the bestselling book that will give you the know-how you need to be effective with your children. It is used like a proper noun, with no explanation, and only a single picture at the end displays what it is.

Artist Sandra Boynton is back and better than ever with completely redrawn versions of her multi-million selling board books. Still wakes occasionally in the night but for the most part, sleeps later in the morning (from his usual 5:45! Open Library is an initiative of the Internet Archive, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. This book has been a glorious accompaniment to our gentle night weaning plan, and is my daughter's current favorite read! A few years later, wanting to focus solely on breastfeeding, I became a La Leche League Leader and co-led a large and fabulous LLL group.I can tell she really relates to the toddler in the book and is delighted when we get to the part where she nurses in the morning while getting a kiss from dad. He loves the dreamy pictures and I sometimes hear himself repeating parts of the book to his bunny :) The message is simple, "Nursies" when the sun shines. The only thing to thing about when getting this book is that in summer time, living in Portland OR, it stays light until 930pm most of the summer. I've been adding "papa is asleep" when I read the book to my son, but I really wish the author would have written dad into the text. The first night I told her that we were implementing it just like in the book, she screamed an cried.
