About this deal

This book is aimed at children in years 3 and 4 , however i feel that children from nursery onwards will enjoy this story. The Vocabu-Library resource from Vocabulary Ninja is a comprehensive vocabulary resource designed to unpick and explain the vocabulary found within classic and modern children’s literature. I was SO EXCITED about this book, and its stunning collage illustrations, but then it turned into a "Look at the mystical Middle Eastern magician guy with a devious pointy mustache! I n addition to this fabulous book our magical collection of activities help to support the growth of your child's imagination.

This is the story of a magic act and a boy finding the place where things go when the magician makes them disappear.

If you are about to start this wonderful book in your literacy lessons, this bundle could save you so much time!

I haven't gone through everything, but seems like these recources perfectly match the PoR teaching sequence. Spelling Seeds have been designed to complement Writing Roots by providing weekly, contextualised sequences of sessions for the teaching of spelling that include open-ended investigations and opportunities to practise and apply within meaningful and purposeful contexts, linked (where relevant) to other areas of the curriculum and a suggestion of how to extend the investigation into home learning.An equally interesting topic of debate is the magician, who seems so mysterious yet almost ominous, creating a feeling of awe and unease. This is a wonderful production, in different media with fantastic use of sumptuous colour and light throughout. Children will recognise the enchanting styles of the famous names through their other titles such as Winter’s Child and FArTHER.

The words within the book literally come to life through the illustrations, for example near the beginning, the author describes the atmosphere in the circus, and “The lanterns went out. You can only sit in the same seating cluster as someone from your own household (or support bubble) and we ask you to not swap seats so we can maintain a safe distance between you and other groups. Leon as this young boy whose determined to prove magic and Abdul Kazam who comes across as scary and mysterious. There are loose links to metacognition skills and plenty of writing opportunities stemming from the story. They have been thinking about different ways to start their sentences to hook the reader in as well as using adjectives and adverbs to create as much detail as possible.They will explore the characters’ thoughts and emotions and take part in drama activities, leading to writing in role and the creation of dialogue. The quality of the language alongside captivating illustrations, cut-out sections, fonts and fold-out pages will immerse children in a magical space to explore the power of imagination and curiosity. This is truly a brilliant book that takes children on a magical journey with Leon, the main character who makes you feel that magical things will happen if you believe. This book is a year 4-5 reccomended read and you can get really great duscussion out of the children.
