After a short while, the black rats became restless and the giant white ones began attacking the humans. When Harris is on the way of taking his student to the hospital, he comes across the dead body of the girl alongside her grieving mother. You follow Jon as he is tries to help the police in finding a killer and desecrator of a childs grave.

I mean, nothing really sur is an alternative history novel set in 1948 in which the Second World War ended with the release of a devastating plague by the defeated Hitler and, like The Spear, features British characters who sympathise with the Nazis. The build-up to such scenes is negligible, other than a general murmur of a creeping unease rising a little further to the surface. It was at this advertising agency that Herbert went on to become an art director and then a group head. Once things get going and the cards slowly began to reveal themselves I was hooked, The main idea here being a logical man finding himself to possess a power that links his mind to that of a murderer is cool and had me set for cat and mouse thriller, sadly it doesn't pan out that way. The killer however is aware of this fact and uses this opportunity to mess with Childes while getting their sick pleasure out of it. One of the characters in this novel is named after a real person, who won the honour by having the winning bid in the 2004 BBC Radio 2 Children in Need Auction. It has its moments, but to be honest, these are just a little too few and far between to keep the horror cogs turning at anything close to a constant rate. However the book did hit its mark with wonderfully gruesome and chilling scenes and kept to the fast pace I expect in thrillers. However, what Herbert brings to the table alongside the principal idea, is a hefty serving of in-your-face brutality of which Herbert has become somewhat of Herbert’s signature trait. But then, all of a sudden Childes found that he was again experiencing more of the unnerving and disorientating visions.

Moon by James Herbert | Waterstones

While police are suspicious of Childes, they seek his assistance as his nightmare visions grow stronger and the killer chooses his daughter as intended victim. At its heart it was a murder mystery wrapped into a supernatural horror and I liked the ending revelation, but what particularly stood out was the writing.

And the longer I stay that way, the better it's going to be, because that's what keeps me on the edge, striving if you like. Burning people alive, sawing off the top of the head of one unlucky person and generally a Kathy Bates gone postal. Until the 'sightings' began, visions of horror seeping into his mind like poisonous tendrils, violent acts that were hideously macabre, the thoughts becoming intense. I had read this book during the early months of the COVID-19 lockdown, but never got around to updating it on Goodreads. I can't in good faith recommend this title although I will say this review does make it sound like the problems present are much worse than the reality of it.

We take pride in offering a wide selection of used books, from classics to hidden gems, ensuring there? Working as a full time author, Herbert used to design the covers of his books as well as do their publicity on his own. Está catalogado como Horror y Ficción, yo le agregaría suspenso, porque como lo dije antes, te pasas todo el bendito libro pensando, buscando pistas, analizando quién es el asesino. Pursuing the disgraced health minister past waves of entranced rats, Harris finds the abandoned house and enters it. Terminé anoche de leerlo y quedé media catatónica porque por un lado, durante todo el bendito libro no hay forma de que te hagas a la idea de quién corno es el asesino y eso me gustó.
