I read this book in an entire sitting. To say that I enjoyed this book would be wrong. It's an incredibly difficult topic and the horrific events that took place in Mae's childhood are true and not for entertainment. At times they are graphically depicted. Choose activities with her, not you, in mind. “Think about things she might not feel up to on her own,” says Wenban-Smith. “My own mother loved trips to National Trust properties, and I’d make sure I got her to them.” Taking your mum on holiday (and not because you want her to do the childcare!) can be a great treat in a lovely setting, and underlines how much you value her. I know good Good Friday was months ago now (insert overexaggeration here for dramatic effect) but I snapped a few photos that I love and would like to share. Every Good Friday for as long as I can remember my family and I go for a Good Friday hike. This year was extra special because me saying "my family" has new meaning.
