The Poisoner's Handbook: Murder and the Birth of Forensic Medicine in Jazz Age New York (Hardcover) Chemistry equations are challenging and are something a bit different from mathematical problems, pH scale, and equations. Therefore, the best chemistry publication should include an in-depth explanation while developing your understanding of the whole process. It should feature innovative ways to explain the core concepts to make students/readers understand the lessons easier. The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements The blurb for The Chemist gives a good summary of the nature of the story so I will not rehash that here, suffice to say it is about a former agent, of some secret government group, who is in fact a torturer, not of the plier, hammer and waterboard variety but one who employs chemical compounds designed to stimulate intense pain thereby encouraging her subjects to reveal whatever hidden truth is desired. Only now the chemist has gone rogue, running for her life from her one time employer who clearly wants her neutralized.

I should’ve had more faith, because this was a pretty amazing book. The only reason I gave in and read it is because both my mother and grandmother were raving about how much they loved it. I was skeptical, but they were totally right. This was one of the best spy thrillers I’ve ever read, on par with or perhaps even surpassing the likes of Patterson and Ludlum. It was what I was so hoping to find in Dean Koontz’s Jane Hawk series that disappointed me last year. Who would have guessed that Meyer had this kind of skill lurking beneath her teen paranormal romances? The Central Science chemistry textbook also offers practice questions and exercises to help more students understand the handbook and improve their problem-solving abilities in chemistry. The Central Science textbook also shows practical applications that most students could apply in their everyday lives. Content advisory: This is an adult book with violence and a high body count, not for the squeamish. There's also a non-explicit sex scene and some light innuendo. Radar, Hula Hoops, and Playful Pigs: 67 Digestible Commentaries on the Fascinating Chemistry of Everyday Life However, in this review guide, we actually have two top choices depending on the student’s budget. First, the more economical option, which is Brown et al.’s Chemistry: The Central Science. This textbook is in its 14 th edition, which speaks volumes for the quality of the material. Its biggest strengths are the student-friendly explanations of the most essential concepts for general chemistry 1 and 2 and, its helpful practice problems, and emphasis on practical applications.Cosmetic chemistry studies the chemical compounds suitable for use in the creation of cosmetics. To do so, it takes into account the structure and condition of the skin, and the effect of these compounds on this organ. Is it well-written, with good illustrations? The Chemistry For Dummies is a chemistry textbook ideal for students/readers who have little to almost no prior knowledge about General and Organic Chemistry. This book purposely uses everyday activities in presenting the ideas and concepts of chemistry step-by-step for beginners. Thus, by science I mean, first of all, a worldview giving primacy to reason and observation and a methodology aimed at acquiring accurate knowledge of the natural and social world. This methodology is characterized, above all else, by the critical spirit: namely, the commitment to the incessant testing of assertions through observations and/or experiments — the more stringent the tests, the better — and to revising or discarding those theories that fail the test. One corollary of the critical spirit is fallibilism: namely, the understanding that all our empirical knowledge is tentative, incomplete and open to revision in the light of new evidence or cogent new arguments (though, of course, the most well-established aspects of scientific knowledge are unlikely to be discarded entirely). Seriously, given that the chemist is on the run for her life, from a well resourced government agency and that she is clearly handicapped by the company she keeps, it is not unreasonable to expect a hair raising chase or nail biting conflict, thoroughly soaked in adrenaline laced action and heart pumping tension. Sadly it is not to be found here. Sure the hunt is on, the stakes are high and oh my is that not a lovely moon we have tonight. In other words……...yawn. General Chemistry by Ralph H.
