About this deal

Other retailers used to import the Pipsqueak into the US, but I don’t think anyone does anymore (let me know in the comments below if they do). Im already thinking about wintertime & considering the idea of one of the Pipsqueak stoves . I can t do a link to them as hopeless with computers & for the reason im unable to put up a photo either . Sorry , We installed a pipsqueak on our boat ( 3 boats ago) It was only a 30 footer so we took out a wardrobe and put it in there. led wrote:The biggest problem with the pipsqueak is that there is no control over the airflow, which I'd consider essential. We bought directly from Salamander so, no, not directly - they have an 'agreement' with a flue making company and recommend them for the supply of the flue components. This month, the Pipsqueak is in the bedroom of an old house, in the mountain; it's 2.5m inos flue pipe going in the 9m chimney: too much draft

Home of the Pipsqueak Stove – Pipsqueak Stoves

The biggest problem with the pipsqueak is that there is no control over the airflow, which I'd consider essential. The only way to do so is to bend the baffle inside the stove, which you need to do to get it to burn differing fuels safely (otherwise it will either produce too much smoke or burn way too hot). If you're looking for a small stove for recreational use, and don't need high output or long burn times, the Pipsqueak might be a good candidate. It seems its a lot easier to buy an ordinary stove due to the odd flue size and rear flue. Would of been costly to weld up the bends needed to bring the flue away from the cabin walls. It’s easy to use, but some people do have trouble maximizing the amount of heat they get out of it without it chewing through a lot of wood. That also becomes annoying simply because you’re feeding wood into it constantly.to match the flue to a 100mm (4") roof collar use a thin metal sleeve (maybe a piece of 4" will slip over the 80mm?) and silicone high-temperature flue sealant. Will that fire stay in over night ? I doubt it, in which case you have to faff about in the morning re lighting it.

However, the fact that it has the rear flue exit, and because of its heavy-duty construction, the Pipsqueak overall gets a very good rating. My sister is going to use the boat for weekends so heating essential. The boat has a Kabota 2 cylinder diesel inboard. it runs and sounds fine. Any timing belt to worry about etc? The only, and biggy problem, is the non-standard flue size - If I remember it is 75mm and is only available in stainless steel from one supplier. Now there are a lot of great US brands selling small and tiny wood stoves, so it’s probably not economical to be bringing over heavy items like the Pipsqueak anymore. Pipsqueak Stoves Incidentally , when looking thru old threads i found several good comments about Pipsqueak stoves & the Davey Hotpot too but yesterday i found an old thread from 2012 which i hadnt seen before . The general concensus was that the rear exit flue ( as MtB points out above ) was the problem & the thread became quite " heated " as the OP was determined to make it work in his boat tho the installation was to be far from normal . Had i have seen that thread earlier id have re considered putting up a question about the same stove .Sounds ideal for toasting the steerer, especially as they do heat fast, the Epping takes quite a while to get going. This stove has a rear exit flue and the hot plate on the top can be used to boil a kettle or heat food. That, and the fact it’s difficult to find for a reasonable price in North America! Pipsqueak Stove For Sale It has a unique classic look and perhaps isn’t as suited to extremely modern fit-outs. It has a tiny glass window through which you can view the fire and a removable ash pan for easy cleanout. With a name like ‘Pipsqueak,’ no one is ever too surprised when they see just how small it is. It is specially designed for heating small spaces, such as boats and small cabins, with an area under 300 square feet.

Stove Comparison - April 2023 Best Pot Belly Stove Comparison - April 2023

The stove is very much still available . A firm called Wood Fuel Cooperitive just sent thru a quote of various bits n bobs . Could this be more suitable & less expensive . It looks tidy enough in the 12 pics on the listing & with a diameter of 24 cm it ll fit & itll be clean A few years ago I bought a Davey Hotpot as the Pipsqueak was no longer in production. Have they started making them again then? Or have you seen a second hand one for sale? The pipsqueak can crank out some heat, but since it's difficult to control with the built-in air controls, we wouldn't consider it a high performing stove.I did look at the Davey hot pot & noted that MtB had one & Magnetman from reading older threads & it does seem to be very good .
