Whether you have cash to splash, or are resigned to people-watching and window shopping, Mayfair is a fabulous and unique part of London to explore, and there are a whole host of bars, cafes and restaurants to sample, historic shops to discover, galleries and museums to stroll around, and plenty more hidden treasures. Mr Wetherell says: “Middle Eastern princes, bankers, wealth managers, commodity brokers, advertising directors and students from ultra-wealthy families are now typical Mayfair householders… they are bachelors and bachelorettes who want to live in a fun and lively resort-village with easy access to fashionable shopping, restaurants, bars and clubs.”

I have liked this Regency series, part I have real troubles with certain aspects as they’re not entirely historically accurate. Thus I feel I am unable to give the series a higher rating. But matters come to light about his brother being indebted to her brother that must be resolved before Suzanna can trust that Royce isn’t after her sizable dowry. Flourishing from a rural field at the turn of the 18 th century into a desirable postcode for the upper classes of London, Mayfair has a rich and fascinating past. First, there was the annual ‘May Fair’ in which the district’s name originates – a raucous festivity that was eventually banned on the grounds of being a public scandal. The family-owned coffee shop and coffee lounge was established in 1942 and has been London’s finest coffee and tea merchant ever since. Suzanna March’s first London season left her feeling humiliated as she was snubbed by the man she had a crush on, the dashing Lord Danning. She fled the ballroom and the country, ending up in Paris to learn proper comportment and gaining a french maid to work miracles. I also loved the insight into London society: the ton itself consists of "good" ton and others. Suzanna tried to move in the same circles as Royce and Lady Victoria but found herself enjoying more the company and friendship of those considered "not good" ton.
