About this deal

The creator of PiKVM was mentioned in a previous post about the creation of the CSI bus capture card, and a Pi hat based on this build will be available soon which would include options for ATX controls as well. Right now, though, it’s possible to build all of this on your own without the hat, and is part of what makes the Pi-KVM impressive, as well as its very low cost. Each here works with one monitor (see below for some dual-monitor suggestions) and allows you to switch among two or four PCs using one set of peripherals. They all use HDMI cables (instead of VGA or DisplayPort, although you can definitely find KVM switches that use those). Most newer computers and monitors connect via HDMI for superior sound and image quality. For the least hassle, you'll want to choose a KVM that works natively with the video outputs of all connected PCs (assuming they all support one in common!) to avoid having to deal with clumsy adapters.

Recent versions of the Pi support USB on-the-go (USB OTG), which allows the Pi to impersonate USB devices such as keyboards, thumb drives, and microphones. NEW* Laptop USB Console (LUC) - A dedicated USB port directly connects to laptop for easy console operation The earliest name was Keyboard Video Switch (KVS). [2] With the advent of the mouse, the Keyboard, Video and Mouse (KVM) switch became popular. The name was introduced by Remigius Shatas, the founder of Cybex, a peripheral switch manufacturer, in 1995. [3] Some companies call their switches Keyboard, Video, Mouse and Peripheral (KVMP).KVM switches are called KVM sharing devices because two or more computers can share a single set of KVM peripherals. Computer sharing devices function in reverse compared to KVM switches; that is, a single PC can be shared by multiple monitors, keyboards, and mice. A computer sharing device is sometimes referred to as a KVM Splitter or reverse KVM switch. While not as common, this configuration is useful when the operator wants to access a single computer from two or more (usually close) locations - for example, a public kiosk machine that also has a staff maintenance interface behind the counter, or a home office computer that doubles as a home theater PC.

Utilizing expertise in over IP KVM solutions, KE8950 are IP-based HDMI KVM extenders that allow access to a computer system from a remote USB console to anywhere over an intranet. The KE8950 KVM over IP Extenders support one HDMI monitor at each end, providing a greatly improved video display image with 4K x 2K video resolution (up to 3840 x 2160). KE8950 also support 1Gbps SFP fiber module expansions, enabling connections via fiber optic network to extend distances in transmission. IP-based KVM systems have been gaining in importance for years. Many AV applications benefit greatly from the use of IP. Using existing cabling, switches, and routers not only saves costs, but also provides operators and administrators with flexibility and ease of use. Almost all components are plug-and-play devices, making it even easier and more comfortable to install and operate the system. Advanced Scheduling – improves efficiency and saves costs by allowing connections to be set based on time and date Supports only limited/fixed general keyboard and mouse profiles, Special keyboard and mouse functions will not work, Can only share "standard" USB keyboard/mouse, Can't share other USB-HID such as: touchscreen monitor, drawing tablet, etc., Generated HPD error while using other USB-HID The new generation ATEN CN8000A features superior video quality with HD resolutions up to 1920 x 1200, LUC (Laptop USB Console) for easier KVM access, user-friendly local console OSD and virtual media function without additional cable.
