About this deal

Secure the butternut squash together with a bit of string. You could also use reusable skewers to keep it together. We loved the taste and texture of these sausages and thought they had a lovely flavour. They are extremely easy to heat up and can be grilled or oven cooked. Unlike a lot of vegan sausages, they don’t release any fat or spit while being cooked. One downside is that they are a little delicate and occasionally split in half, another is that some people might find them a little dry. However, this means they stand up particularly well when served with a sauce or gravy. Gosh! also do a Smokey Sweet Potato and Red Pepper version of its sausage – perfect if you want something a little bit spicier.

These sausages are more subtly flavoured and seasoned than the others on this list, which makes them ideal for kids – even extremely fussy ones. The skin is slightly thinner than on a meat sausage, but they still hold together well and keep their shape. The skin browns up really well during cooking and some testers even thought the sausage smelt like meat. Sausages are great to make easy slimming world-friendly meals with, they are high in protein and easy to cook, but finding low syn sausages isn't always easy, some can be very high in fat if you are not careful. As the nutritional value of the dish will vary depending on the pasta you choose to use, I’m only going to include the nutrition stats for the sauce as described down below in terms of vitamins but the total calories in the recipe box will include the pasta. I used red lentil penne, but you could have probably guessed that already. If you have 2 per portion suddenly you realise you are over your daily syns by choosing the wrong ones at the supermarket! That is why I wanted to share some top buys with you. Serve as an aperitif, a warm starter with salad or as a meat replacement for Christmas dinner! 12. Gosh! Stuffed Butternut Squash by @adelehalsall Of course, you could use 5% fat pork mince and make your own if you were that way inclined but I think most people don’t fancy that.

Roll out your puff pastry sheet and divide lengthwise into 5 equal strips, then divide those strips width way into 4 equal rectangles (in total creating a grid of 20 equal rectangular pastry pieces) Alternatively, why not try my ready-made meal plans including one full of vegetables and one with all easy-to-cook meals. Take four Gosh! Falafel balls and roll them together to combine. Place on a cutting board and use your hand to gently flatten until about 1cm in depth. If none of the above sausages is to your liking then these sausages could still be a great choice. Many of them are obviously low fat by the name so should be easy to spot. Weight loss comes about when you eat fewer calories than you burn and as such choosing low-calorie food and foods low in saturated fats and high in proteins is always the best. Many of the best veggie sausages taste impressively similar to ones made from meat, which is ideal if you’re looking for a specific meat replacement. Not everyone craves that taste or texture, though, and there are also plenty of meat-free options that aren’t trying to replicate meat exactly. Aldi has a good range of sausages on offer, they tend to be between 1-3 syns depending on the flavour and type of meat you buy. When the squash has finished, remove from the oven and scoop out the flesh from each half, leaving a 1-inch width of flesh around the edges.
