I am a little worried that there hasn't been a movie so far based on the novel. (Tried and dropped 2 times - one during the MGR period and now Maniratnam). I wish the novel is soon made into a TV/film series. Kalki ji is a master storyteller and the English translation is done without losing the essence of the original writing. However, I still felt that reading it in Tamil would be pure bliss. The author has described the beauty of the southern lands, the majesty of the temples, the culture of the bygone era and each of these threads were woven like a delicate craft into the story of the Chola dynasty. I could almost hear the music and imagine myself in that distant past the words were so alive.
