Cetirizine, a human metabolite of hydroxyzine, is a potent and selective antagonist of peripheral H 1-receptors. In vitro receptor binding studies have shown no measurable affinity for receptors other than H 1-receptors. Piriton Syrup is a great option for children 1 year and over with allergy and hay fever symptoms. They will help relieve the usual symptoms including hayfever, skin allergies, pet allergies, house dust mite allergies, insect bites, and mould spore allergies.

Caution should be taken in patients with predisposition factors of urinary retention (e.g. spinal cord lesion, prostatic hyperplasia) as cetirizine may increase the risk of urinary retention (see Section Adverse Reactions). Piriteze Once-A-Day Allergy Syrup provides once a day relief from the symptoms of hayfever and other allergies. It can relieve allergic symptoms such as itchy and runny nose, and can also be taken to help with skin allergies such as rash, itching and urticaria (hives).

Piriton Allergy Tablets are used to treat common allergic symptoms caused by hayfever and other allergies. These include a runny nose, stuffiness, redness, swelling, and itchiness. The small bottle, with its mini “shelf” at the top, is really easy to use. Hold it with your thumb and two fingers, and squirt up each nostril twice a day. We don’t find the taste, smell or sensation unpleasant, but some may find it takes a bit of getting used to. Hay fever medication shortages: In early May, GlaxoSmithKline reported a shortage of chlorphenamine maleate, which is the active ingredient in some hay fever tablets including Piriton.

Piriteze allergy tablets contain the active ingredient cetirizine hydrochloride, which is a type of medicine called a non-sedating antihistamine. Cetirizine is generally very safe. Taking more than the usual dose is unlikely to harm you or your child. If you remember more than 4 hours after, do not give the missed dose. Instead, wait until the next dose and carry on as normal.
