About this deal

If it’s completely dry, the answer is “sort of.” You are going to have to wet the Podge and scrape it off. Mod Podge is tough. It’s much stronger than Elmer’s, especially over the long haul. Read this post about why you shouldn’t make your own Mod Podge. Is Mod Podge waterproof when dry?

What brand do I personally use? FolkArt or Martha Stewart brushes. Great quality, great price. What is the best way to clean brushes?Do I need to use a new one each time? I would use two – three coats to seal a project. You’ll want more coats depending on how much the project will be handled. If it’s a piece of furniture under heavy use, I’d even go up to five. How many coats of Outdoor Mod Podge should I use? Practice. Don’t expect your first project to turn out perfectly. Mine didn’t, and now I can Mod Podge like a pro. Be kind to yourself. I know a lot of people sell their projects online, and therefore want to ship their items. Read my instructions here for doing it without ruining everything!

Because of water sensitivity, it’s not recommended that you use for preservation purposes. What’s the hardest thing you have ever Mod Podged? I LOVE doing collage! Functionally it is adding layer upon layer of mixed media materials like tissue paper, vintage ephemera, scrap paper or fabric… that is where the fun comes, and layers of mod podge! Apply the Mod Podge of your choice to your surface: paper, fabric, wood, using a paint brush or foam brush. Paint it on your surface evenly. Does it come in different sizes? This formula comes in the most sizes: 2 oz., 8 oz., 16 oz., 32 oz., and even gallon. It is very fun to experiment with Mod Podge and it can be an addictive craft, so you have been warned! haha.

I use a “medium” coat when applying one surface to another. By medium, I mean that I can visibly see the white completely covering the surface.Acrylic Sealers:If you need a strong sealer to spray on top of your finished project, these come in Gloss, Matte, Pearlized (which has a bit of shimmer), and Super Gloss.

It’s a tie between Hard Coat and Dimensional Magic. I love the satin finish of Hard Coat and Dimensional Magic is just . . . cool. Is Mod Podge paintable? After I do a project and want to add some additional color can I paint on top of the MP or will it ruin it? I don’t useoriginal photographs; rather, I make photocopies on a laserjet printer so that I can preserve the originals. For instance, you can remove it from a tabletop, but I would mist it with water and then let the water soak in. Then I would scrape the paper (or whatever it is) off of the surface and try the water again if I didn’t get it all. Then you have to sand. I always “prepare” my fabric before Mod Podging it down. This means I brush medium coat on, let it dry and then cut it to fit the surface. Applying the Mod Podge not only prevents fraying, but also makes the fabric more flexible and easier to adhere to the surface smoothly.

Then you are going to seal the image in by painting another layer of Mod Podge over top of your transferred image. You can use regular taklon or natural bristle brushes found at your local craft retailer. I use a soft bristled, 1” brush in most instances. Sometimes I go smaller, but the 1” brush works for most of my projects. CONVENIENT & VERSATILE SIZE – Add this multi-purpose, all-in-one glue, sealer, and finish in a 8 oz size to your art supplies I use a bunch of different matte mediums (mostly Matte Mod Podge and Liquitex Matte Medium). Yes, Mod Podge is a Matte Medium but not as high a quality as Liquitex or other matte mediums. If it is more difficult to peel off, then you should be safe to Mod Podge the item. You’ll still be able to peel off the Mod Podged paper/fabric, so don’t worry about ruining the surface.
