About this deal

In 1988, a significant move reshaped the candy landscape—the Tootsie Roll Company acquired Charms Company. This merger brought together the legendary Blow Pop and the equally beloved Tootsie Pop. Together, they reinforced the Tootsie Roll Company's status as the leading lollipop producer worldwide. From 1937 until the 1950s Charms produced pecan-filled chocolate bars called "25 Carats" made with The Hershey Company top grade chocolate (at that time, Hershey had 3 grades of chocolate). The chocolate candy was discontinued due to the high production costs and internal problems. However, as history tells it, in 1966, the founder of Triple T. Co., Thomas T. Tidwell, filed a patent for a unique method of making hard candy with bubble gum in the middle.

Baby Ruth: A 60-gram bar has 280 calories, 14 grams of fat (including 8 grams of saturated fat). It also has 33 grams of sugar, the second-highest sugar total among the candies examined, better only than a 60-gram 3 Musketeers candy bar that has 40 grams of sugar (though a 3 Musketeers bar has only eight grams of total fat).As a business, Charms first launched under the name ‘Tropical Charms’ in 1912, but soon after changed it to Charms Candy Company, which remained in business until Tootsie acquired the brand in the late 80s.

Things like carmine, cochineal extract, and other derivatives are not vegan-friendly. That being said, there are some options available with approved colorings from their FDA list of ingredients and companies who market these using certifications such as Non-GMO Project Verified or rainforest alliance certified. BHT A Blow Pop consists of two main components: the hard candy shell and the soft bubblegum center. The hard candy shell is the outer layer of the Blow Pop. It provides the initial burst of flavor and protects the bubblegum center. The shell is made from a combination of sugar, corn syrup, artificial flavors, and food coloring. The vibrant colors and fruity flavors make the Blow Pop visually appealing and enticing. Charms Blow Pops are colored with a natural plant pigment known as turmeric, which is derived from the root of the Curcuma longa plant. This provides this popular lollipop candy treat with its signature yellow/orange hue and warm flavor without having to use any unhealthy ingredients. Artificial ColorsMost manufacturers use vegetable glycerin which is usually sourced from either soy or palm oil and does not contain any animal byproducts making the Charm Blow Pops vegan-friendly. Tropical Charms, later renamed Charms, are square candies that come in cherry, grape, lemon, lime, orange, and raspberry flavors. [6] The main ingredient of a Blow Pop is white sugar, corn syrup, and partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, with other flavors and colors added for taste. While many people believe that gelatin is an essential ingredient in blow pops, this could not be further from the truth! Do Blow Pops Contain Dairy? On November 28, 1966, Thomas T. Tidwell, founder of Triple T. Co. Inc., filed a patent for “Method for making candy with gum inside.” [7] Triple T initially marketed the product as the Triple Treat. In 1973, Triple Treat sold the idea to Charms, where it was renamed Blow Pop. Blow Pops come in watermelon, strawberry, cherry, grape, and sour apple flavors (sour apple was introduced later and was initially round like an apple). Blow Pops became the Charms Candy Company's best-selling product of all time. [1]
