The cycles of the seasons and of plants that progresses or entropies depending on the season. In summer it seeks to procure healthier leaves, whittling (entropy) of the plant is in autumn, the degrown plants (destruction) is in winter, growth (creating) of the plant or tree during spring. Where it's gaining or progressing, fully progressed occurs during summer, summer seeks stability as it seeks to keep (progress) the leaves and branches that are healthy, growth and progress reaching its end point of a cycle. Creation as part of yang, and destruction as part of yin, progress on one side (yang) and entropy on the other side (yin), is represented in the cycles. In English, yang-yin (like ying-yang) occasionally occurs as a mistake or typographical error for the Chinese loanword yin-yang— yet they are not equivalents. Chinese does have some yangyin collocations, such as 洋銀 (lit. "foreign silver") "silver coin/dollar", but not even the most comprehensive dictionaries (e.g., the Hanyu Da Cidian) enter yangyin * 陽陰. While yang and yin can occur together in context, [24] yangyin is not synonymous with yinyang. The linguistic term " irreversible binomial" refers to a collocation of two words A–B that cannot be idiomatically reversed as B–A, for example, English cat and mouse (not * mouse and cat) and friend or foe (not * foe or friend). Whether you would see that in opposition or not, I would sort of question that because I think by presenting a particular vision of the world, it might draw into question or help me reflect more deeply on, on the way that that physicists describe the world. Over the past four decades, he’s written many books, including my favourite, the Ministry for the Future, which is unique in giving hope to the challenge of climate change. He’s also covered many themes like human settlements and space in his Mars trilogy, and AI powered quantum computers in the novel 2312, and has won pretty much every science fiction award going, sometimes more than once. Stanley has inspired generations of science fiction readers and writers. Our conversation touched on many topics including the dangers of escapism, climate grief, and the myth of scientific objectivity. I hope you will enjoy it.Early – Late: We often talk about time using these antonyms. An early bird catches the worm, but it’s better late than never. For instance, on a scale in which zero means there is no correlation and 1 means couples always share the trait, the correlation for political values was .58. Tønnessen, M. (2015). For the new paper, the authors conducted both a review, or meta-analysis, of previous research and their own original data analysis. I’ve been excited about this series because I've spent quite a bit of time these last few years trying out different forms of art.

But I can also see that art has the freedom to be anything it wants to be, to break rules, to create images and shapes and a vision of the universe that is fundamentally opposed to the laws of physics, for example.Reczek, C., Pudrovska, T., Carr, D., Thomeer, M. B. & Umberson, D. Marital histories and heavy alcohol use among older adults. J. Health Soc. Behav. 57, 77–96 (2016). Stanley, I want to begin with what got you interested in science, your personal connection to science. So science again, is a way of seeing, a way of looking and interrogating the world, but also to do it in a way that is hopefully repeatable, to allow other people to see something in the same way again. For instance, the Huainanzi says" "Now, the lumber is not so important as the forest; the forest is not so important as the rain; the rain is not so important as yin and yang; yin and yang are not so important as harmony; and harmony is not so important as the Way. (12, 材不及林,林不及雨,雨不及陰陽,陰陽不及和,和不及道; tr. Major et al. 2010, 442).

It found that for between 82% and 89% of traits analyzed—ranging from political leanings to age of first intercourse to substance use habits—partners were more likely than not to be similar.

For example, Horwitz explains, if short people are more likely to produce offspring with short people and tall people with tall people, there could be more people at the height extremes in the next generation. The same goes for psychiatric, medical or other traits.
