We get to know him better as an individual. I like him reminiscing about his high school memoriesand contemplating his past regrets. His introspection culminates in a captivating swimming pool scene at the end. After opening up to Shin, they fall into the pool together. The couple is on the cusp of sharing a passionate kiss, but Minato stops him just in time. I love the intimate ambiance, heightened emotions & the exciting buildup of sexual tension. Minato gives Shin a bottle of water to alleviate the summer heat. Later that evening, Shin brings some sweets to the laundromat to return the favour. They chat casually and grow more familiar. Shin begins visiting Minato's laundromat more often. According to Shin, the washing machine at home is usually occupied since he comes from a big family with multiple siblings. He enjoys quiet time at the laundromat, keeping Minato company.

Saki came to Minato's hometown seeking an explanation for their breakup. Initially, Minato avoided the topic and wouldn't tell her the truth. However, he comes out to her at the end of this episode. Minato changes his mind because he feels troubled by his indecisiveness. He sees parallels between Shin and Maki, who are hurt because Minato won't commit to them. By coming out, Minato takes a courageous step in owning up to his past mistakes. He gives a long list of compliments, even lengthier than what Shin said in Episode 5. Although Shin fell in love first, Minato fell even harder. Kusakawa Takuya did his best with Akira - the character was just not it writing wise. Nishigaki Sho truly impressed me. However, the mischief is part of his character's charm. This relationship wouldn't be as fun if Minato had a serious personality. Watching Minato's Laundromat 2 refreshes my memory of how charismatic he is. All his expressions and responses seem genuine, whether happy, sad, or angry. When Shin is happy, he beams with pride and excitement. When Shin is upset, he wrestles between expressing disappointment and maintaining composure. And when feeling flirty, desire takes over his demeanour. Sho is just so spot-on in every scene! Going into Minato's Laundromat, I knew nothing about the BL drama. I had no idea there would be an age gap in the romance, especially of this magnitude. When Minato revealed he was 10 years older than his teenage love interest, my first reaction was, "Oh dear." He's too young for you, Uncle Minato! This series started with an uphill battle, and I was staunchly against the couple from their first exchange.The leads play a significant role in elevating Minato's Laundromat 2. Both infuse their characters with so much charisma and personality. Minato's actor (Takuya Kusakawa) handles all the comedic scenes boisterously. From exaggerated expressions to neurotic reactions, he channels his energy into hilarious performances. His costar (Sho Nishigaki) seems so genuine. He smiles from the heart, gazes at his love interest affectionately, and delivers emotional lines with heartfelt sincerity. This talented star gives an authentic portrayal of innocence and infatuation. This soothing story is undermined by a scandalous pairing. Minato's Laundromat features an alarming age difference between the mismatched leads. The titular character is an adult in his late 20s, a decade older than his juvenile love interest. Shin is a 17-year-old kid still going through puberty. Minato keeps turning down Shin's advances, tormented about hooking up with a high school student. Yet, he isn't firm in his conviction. Minato sets blurry boundaries, gives mixed signals, and does just enough to stoke the teenager's affections. Plot wise, we've got whole side plot of Sakuma Takayuki which was stretched so bad, taking too much screen time and becoming quite an annoying addition to the drama. The teacher might have been the sweetest dude ever, but that plot should have been resolved in 2 episodes max.

Being more or less the same age as Minato, I could easily understand his panic about starting to have feelings for a high schooler. Even the idea is scary. That said, I feel like they failed with Minato writing wise, since he just... existed and everything was happening around him. The guy did not try to process it at all and it left the viewers with repetitive scenes and plots, since nothing was changing character wise. OMG. Despite Minato's resistance to many romantic advances, little moments like this persuade me that he is fond of Shin. I'm gushing over this couple's cute romantic fluff! In addition, this scene is clever because it references a previous moment in Season 1. He is physically and emotionally attracted to this young man, but knows it’s not right to give in to the pursuit. He tries his best to be firm with his words and believes he is making it clear that they can’t be anything more than friends, even if his actions don’t always translate that way. But I think another reason he isn’t too harsh with Shin is his own memory of his feelings for his teacher at Shin’s age and the anguish he felt when he realized his feelings wouldn’t be reciprocated at that time. I wish he could have had a heart-to-heart talk with Shin early on just stating in no way whatsoever can we be in a relationship at this time, but let's see what happens down the road when you are older and out of HS.
