About this deal

For entry level hiking that will last the course in harder terrain, the Meindl Vakuum boots are an excellent option. A great unisex boot for Hi Tec fans is the Skamania. They have both a men’s and a women’s version available. They’re identical in design, with just a few differences in color options and sizing.

Although Hi Tec makes some excellent unisex hiking boots, they also make some great models that are exclusively designed with ladies in mind. Waterproof suede leather and high performance fabric upper provides durability, breathability and comfortThis boot is completely waterproof, and made entirely out of leather and textile. It has a suede and mesh upper with i-Shield waterproof construction to ensure your feet stay nice and dry. The shaft of the boot measures 5″ from the arch, and it has a 1.5″ heel. Similar to other Hi Tec boots, the Altitude Lite has a multi-directional MDT outsole. I’ve mentioned the price numerous times throughout this review but I think it is worth concluding with it again. The Banderas offers a good price for a reasonable pair of hiking boots from a respected brand. As clearly mentioned throughout this review too though, be sure to set your expectations of them correctly in advance. When it comes to searching for a stylish hiking boot that’s also practical, it doesn’t get much better than the St. Moritz 200.

Another fan favorite Hi Tec hiking boot is the Bandera. This is one of the most reviewed Hi Tec hiking boots out there, and it’s easy to see why. The Logan is a 100% waterproof hiking boot. The shaft measure 4.5″ from the arch, and the upper is made with a combination of waterproof suede and mesh. As long as you don’t go trekking through ankle high water, they’ll keep your feet bone dry. This of course leaves room for interpretation but if something busts after only a month or two I think they would be hard pushed not to offer you something. Short of hiking over hot lava or some other mad and extreme conditions, the basics should be expected to hold up for a period under reasonable conditions. In conclusion, from my perspective, the Hi-Tec Bandera Hiking boots for men are a reasonable entry level pair of hiking boots and are pretty good value for money as long as you don’t expect too much from them. When it comes to the outsole, the Logan fairs well compared to other Hi Tec hiking boots. It has a multi-directional traction MDT outsole, so it’s durable and has plenty of grip. The laces are tied using a Gilly lacing systems and, as mentioned in the last piece, I did find a lot of comments from folks having difficulty with the laces on the Bandera’s. The mid-sole, the piece between the outsole and the upper, of the boot is constructed using EVA. EVA stands for Ethylene-vinyl acetate. It is a polymer that has good stress and impact resistance properties. With regards to break-in, the Bandera’s generally seem to take almost no time to break in. With so much cushioning on the tongue, ankle and upper I would expect that to be the case. Support, Stability and Grip This boot is made with a suede leather and nylon upper. It also has a protective toe bumper and heel guard. The inside of the boot has a waterproof membrane and a padded EVA midsole. As far as Hi Tec hiking boots go, the OX is one of the best options available. You’ll have a hard time finding a negative review of them, and there’s a reason for that.

Overall the Hi Tec Skamania is a pretty solid boot, especially if you want to get matching “his and hers” gear. These boots have a steel shank for extra support and stability. They also have rustproof lacing hardware and a removable molded insole. The upper of this boot features a variety of materials. It uses a combination of suede and leather for the outer portion, with fleece liner and faux fur lining on the inner portion. For many people, who want a cheap boot for light trail work at the weekend the Bandera’s would probably be perfect, for me they were just painful. Featuring a suede upper with breathable mesh underlays and a ghillie and rustproof hardware lacing system for a snug and secure fit. The Dri-Tec waterproof membrane will keep feet dry while the lightweight, durable fork shank adds stability. An impact-absorbing midsole and removeable moulded insole delivers long lasting underfoot cushioning comfort. These waterproof walking boots for men also have a Multi-Directional (MDT) rubber outsole for improved grip and durability. The laces also have cloth lace retainers on the side which, from my experience, can give quite easily. Once a lace breaks through one of those, your hiking boots are pretty much done as you can’t replace them so go easy!
