Particularly fine vintage ports can continue to gain complexity and drink wonderfully for decades after they were bottled, and therefore can be particularly sought after and expensive wines. Vintage ports are aged in barrels for a maximum of 2 years before bottling, and often require another 5 to 15 years of aging in the bottle before reaching what is considered proper drinking age.In 2005, the IVDP prohibited the use of the term ""Vintage Character"" replacing it with the term ""Reserve. LBV (Late-Bottled Vintage) port is intended to provide some of the experience of drinking a vintage port but without the decade-long wait of bottle aging. One of the unique winemaking techniques followed here is the addition of the grape spirit during the fermentation of the grapes to add to the sweetness and longevity of the wines. Background: As one of the last Port companies with its own cooperage team, tending to each cask individually, GRAHAM's masters the art of making 30 Years Old Tawnies. Using the extensive knowledge of the Douro Valley gained over the previous seventy years, the Grahams chose an ideal place to plant a vineyard; an excellent south-facing aspect, fine soil composition, good gradients that facilitate drainage and a perfectly sited ridge on which they built one of the finest of all the DouroÂ's great estate houses. Excellent - please note that 30 years is an average age and so the vintage does not appear on the bottle . It was also one of the first Port house to invest in its own vineyards and is now at the cutting edge of innovation in winemaking techniques.Because it has already been exposed to oxygen, an open bottle of tawny resists oxidation the longest of all ports. Port also known as Port wine, Vinho do Porto, Porto, or Porto wine is a sweet, fortified wine from the Douro Valley in the northern part of Portugal; it takes its name from the city of Oporto, the centre of port export and trading. Firstly, using a high quality raw material: Graham’s 30 Year Old Tawny Port is made using the best clusters from the best plots and then aged for around thirty years. If the person being thus queried does not know the ritual (and so replies in the negative), the querent will remark ""He's an awfully nice fellow, but he never remembers to pass the port"".

Graham’s winemaking team still adds the grape spirit known as aguardente (commonly known as brandy) is added to disrupt the fermentation of grape juice. Founded only in 1989, Bodegas Terras Gauda has quickly established itself as the producer of definitive Albariño, one of today's most fashionable white wines and an Eton Vintners bestseller. Traditionally, the wine is passed ""port to port"" -- the host will pour a glass for the person seated at their right, and then pass the bottle or decanter to the left (to port); this practice is repeated around the circle.Graham's is one of the last Port companies with its own cooperage team, who care for each cask individually. The palate is a gamut of flavours, ranging from delicate fruit and raisins to burnt toffee and chocolate. Not every year is declared a vintage in the Douro, only those when conditions are favourable to particularly flavourful crops of grapes. The quality of Graham’s Port relies on the finest grapes, primarily sourced from five iconic quintas in the Douro Valley: Quinta dos Malvedos, Quinta do Tua, Quinta das Lages and two others, Quinta da Vila Velha and Quinta do Vale de Malhadas, which are privately owned by members of the Symington family.
