About this deal

While I'm sure nobody was expecting an immaculate rendering of the Z-grade feature's imperfect aural effort, it's disappointing to hear such feral frontal noise. The fanzine had been started by El Paso effects fan Jay Duncan and Bohus in the 1970s; Bohus resurrected the title 20 years later and continues publishing it on an irregular basis. This creature feature wins entertainment points for its title alone; there are no monkeys here, let alone a blue one.

Granted, the film was shot on a low budget, fighting momentous focus troubles, but the disc doesn't provide the basics in HD atmosphere or depth. Please help to demonstrate the notability of the topic by citing reliable secondary sources that are independent of the topic and provide significant coverage of it beyond a mere trivial mention.

I wish there could be a foreign release, but I imagine not while the elements and 4K transfer are with Synapse. Alternate Opening (4:43, SD) offers little to no discernible changes from the theatrical cut outside of a different opening title sequence. The difference here is that the horror elements are so well executed that you’ll often forget that you were laughing only a couple of minutes ago. Scoring cues hold to their creeping synth intention, but fail to provide a desired crispness, buttressing the macabre events. These were films like The Deadly Spawn, Night of the Creeps, Critters, Killer Klowns From Outer Space and somany more.I feel like there just shouldn’t be a “but…” after “I know he’s gone through some serious health issues. Yet these people almost always mention how much the feature terrified them the first time they saw it. Contentious material about living people that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately.

My point was simply that we're still seeing newer titles coming out, that were announced long after Deadly Spawn was, so why wouldn't that be bumped up the queue? Sure, there were some god-awful discoveries in the mix, but I also found a number of memorable movies that have since become “legends” in my book. If you’re in the mood for zany, giant insectoid B-movie entertainment, well, this one delivers the goods. The extras here include audio comments from director Ted Bohus and editor Marc Harwood, an introduction with Bohus, casting tapes, and even a gag reel. This sequel is a B-movie through and through, but there’s some fantastic creature work here, and Schoelen is always a plus in horror. The scare is on them, as they only discover an open toolbox, a severed hand, and a horrific creature with some wicked teeth. However, not all of these weird movies are created equal, and I’d argue that a silly premise is only half the battle when crafting a legitimately entertaining piece of absurdist genre cinema. The meteorite soon crashes down pretty close to their campsite, which puts an end to the festivities. Sure, aliens pretty much hold a corner on the market in the science fiction genre, but they have also been a mainstay of the horror genre since its inception.

Now, eight years later, the formerly dormant company of Elite Entertainment — in conjunction with MVD Visual Entertainment — has awaken to re-release the film on Blu-ray as part of its Millennium Edition series (which is a bit odd, since the company’s earlier “Millennium Edition” titles were for releases from 2000 or so). That's my point - if Synapse hadn't picked this up, maybe another label might have gone for this one by now, like Vinegar Syndrome.
