About this deal

A well written memoir and an in interesting insight into how fame can have such a far reaching impact on loved ones. It would be amazing if she could have the send-off she deserves without the event becoming a media circus. This book certainly does, and Amy really doesn't hold back on her thoughts and opinions on her daughters life.

While i dont think kate is innocent or has been willing to take responsibility i do feel for the amount of crap shes gotten unfairly and she is undoubtedly a strong woman. Amy found herself catapulted into the media circus that followed her daughter, sometimes with devastating consequences. I think real people see through the headlines but unfortunately headlines are there to manipulate people. As a grandparent to Katie's son Harvey, Amy has also become a prolific campaigner for families of children with disabilities - but there was one battle she had to fight alone. Narcs can make you feel like you're going insane to the point of drowning in their drama and their plea of being the victim all the time. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. Being a carer for your complex children’s needs is enough to make any upset cause a breakdown as you are always worrying, exhausted and protective at the same time.

Interesting to read from Amy's POV and let's us know that the reality is far from what we see and read about regarding Katie. I picked this book for another August 'Bookshelf Raiders' read because of the fact I am a mother, and I hold the belief that no one loves or knows you as a mother does. I knew I would like the book but I didn’t expect that it would be one of the best books I’ve ever listened too. The people who spread abuse online need to read this and take a good look at themselves and how far they can truly push someone to the brink, which in turn affects the whole family unit.

If always been a bit ambivalent about Peter Andre but after reading this, I dislike him intensely and it just goes to show what a shameless PR campaign he has used. From one Mother to another, Amy you are a remarkable woman, and if at the end of my life I can look back with the pride and the memories you have with your family, I will be one happy woman! I do sympathise with Kate it’s not easy at all having a disabled child until you love it you can only assume I know this first hand and I’m glad she has a strong mother like Amy she needs that .
