Lucian Blackthorne is a man that as much as you would like to sum him up with a few words, you can’t. We learned about Lucian in the most monochrome way and that took away a lot from him as a character. The female leads are usually trying to balance what they want with what society expects of them, while the male leads live almost entirely outside of society.

But Lucian, despite being subject to their cruelty and company was relatively much more restrained and human, and I actually sort of liked him. Since childhood she's had an uncanny ability to play music by ear, even though she doesn't have the ability to actually read sheet music itself. After drafting it, I bought nearly every title on the list, and now I plan to work my way through them. But little did she know that she would uncover secrets not only her own but the Blackthorns themselves,getting caught between the arms of the cursed man himself who is like the ghost story that kids tell eachother. I loved the cover (yes, I stared at it for five minutes straight before reading) and it didn't incite a single feeling in me that would have warned me what this story held.Master of Salt and Bones is creepily haunting with a touch of goth and the passion and aura of sex goes over your skin like a long feather stroke. I liked them as a couple and there's so much darkness surrounding them that I guess their darkness became their beauty. He descends the staircase, the ease of his stroll like a man who can show up to a funeral without a care in the world and leave as if he's stolen the last sip of air. Through flashbacks, we also learn how Lucian developed his fetishes, which were some of the strangest scenes I've ever read. I haven't stopped thinking about this book since I finished it and I don't think I will ever forget it.

There are a few trigger warnings in this book for: emotional and physical abuse, sexual assault, drugs, attempted/r*pe, a hint of pedophilia, self-harm, suicide.I really enjoyed this read and I think the author did a wonderful job with incorporating the past and present because those chapters flowed nicely and we learned more about Lucian’s past. It is said that when Lucian was younger he was incarcerated in a psychiatric ward and scars mar half his face.
