About this deal

The game comes with a suite of cards and each player gets an identical deck to shuffle and start with, the only difference being that they have different coloured backs. The game continues until one player finishes his final (twelfth) card and yells “FIN-ished” – that player wins. It’s a short burst of energy and madness and the worst bit by far is picking up the cards at the end. Dicebreaker is owned by Gamer Network Limited, a ReedPop company and subsidiary of Reed Exhibitions Limited. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.

When I went to my first boardgame night with all new people, they suggested I play one round of this before I left.

In most ways, Exploding Kittens’ Happy Salmon is the Happy Salmon of old - and no doubt it’s just as fun in motion. Perfect for families, youth groups, conventions and other gatherings, it’s a game that knows it’s niche and fills it well. During a game of Happy Salmon, you're trying to find another player to perform the action you have at the top of your deck with.

The cards are more like plastic and incredibly durable which is great as you will be slinging them around in a bid to be the quickest.Actions include the classic "High 5", the unifying "Pound It", the frantic "Switcheroo", and the delightful and bizarre "Happy Salmon". Nathan Beeler : Initially, Happy Salmon felt like Pit with a silly physicality literally slapped on it. The cards are thick and plasticity enough to survive being thrown on the floor and have different coloured backs so decks can be reset easily. As you can see, these actions are definitely active – fist bumps, high-fives, slapping arms, and running around. Besides, one of my friends (who's won the most games of Happy Salmon) mostly won because he was good at figuring out when to move on from the card he was holding - he won not because his deck is shuffled the best, but because he's good at figuring out when the thing he's holding doesn't work with what the others have.

He joined Dicebreaker as editor-in-chief in 2019, and has been trying to convince the rest of the team to play Diplomacy since. There’s absolutely nothing civil about this game – victory goes to the loudest, jumpiest, high-fiving-est player around! The card names are slightly revised from Happy Salmon’s earlier release, with the excellently-titled Fish Bump replacing Pound It!Happy Salmon is a cute little game, contained on a deck of cards, and cleverly packaged in a neoprene Salmon-shaped pouch. Happy Salmon elicits fun in a way most games find hard to do, and that is fine, other games don’t need to. If you don’t want to own a party game that comes packaged inside a fish then I’m not sure what you do want out of life, hopefully learning more about Happy Salmon will convince you.

One of the reasons we love North Star Games is because their games are focused directly at family audiences. And even though the game is still loud, the loudness is hyper-condensed to a brief two-minute burst where people just mostly shout the name of an action before quickly moving on. If you’ve got a really big event coming up, combine with the blue Happy Salmon pack and play up to 12! Reddit and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide you with a better experience. Happy Salmon is a fast, hilarious game in which you must dispose of all of your cards faster than any other player. Each player begins the game with a deck of 12 cards, divided into four sets of three matching cards: High Five, Fish Bump, Switch It Up and the Happy Salmon itself. The only recourse for being partnerless is to save the card for later, dropping it to the bottom of your deck.
