About this deal

I used Rub n Buff to make this cheap light fixture look like a more expensive version from Pottery Barn. I brushed this mirror below with Antique Gold, which is more yellowy and brighter than European Gold.

TJ that is so weird because I have used it on the metal around the top of the chandeliers I have purchased and on the metal arms. I have been using antique gold but it is much darker than I want to use on restoring an old chandelier, this blog has enabled me to choose the correct gold for this project, thanks for the info much appreciated! It didn’t make as much difference in that way as I’d thought it would, nor did having a light, midtone, or dark starting surface. You have more control over the finish at the end because you can buff it out until you get your desired look. It has a lot of pinkness to it and I wouldn’t use it at all if I were wanting something to appear gold. In my case, I’m redoing my guest bedroom and wanted to change out some of the black and bronze colors to a beautiful, antique gold. Easy to apply - just rub onto any surface with finger or soft cloth, then buff to a beautiful lustre. Since it’s a wax-based product, to give it a more durable finish, you can buff your finished item with a soft cloth. Now that I’ve found the “winner” for color matching the faucets in our bathroom (European Gold this time) to use on our bathroom vanity and a couple of exposed shelving screws, we are one step closer to being finished with the bathroom renovation!

I have tried unsuccessfully so far to make RubnBuff stick to metal items…it seems to stick for a minute but then once you buff it buffs right off…Ive tried leaving for a few days and reapplying and it just goes thick and claggy and once again rubs off. I was still able to see how the colors looked though, and that was really my main goal in this little experiment, so I can refer back to it in future projects. It must be stiff and not fluffy (a blending brush works well) and you’ll want super fine/soft bristles for best results. Like you said, it is perfect for bringing out details and for adding a touch of glam here and there. If this is not the color you need please refer to the attached photos for a color chart of the other available colors. If you’ve already done that, your item hasn’t arrived, or it’s not as described, you can report that to Etsy by opening a case. Rub 'n Buff 15ml Tubes Made from imported carnauba waxes, fine metallic powders, and select pigments, Rub 'n Buff® gives almost any surface a new look in minutes.
