Keeping carpets and floors clean can feel like a never-ending task, whether you’ve got pets or kids, or simply seek a tidy home. Needless to say, it mopped the kitchen floor almost as well as its stablemate, the ultra efficient MACH V1 Ultra upright cordless mop I tested a few weeks ago. I have to say the mopping cloths are much thicker and plusher than the pads on other machines, giving this vacuum an edge when it comes to mopping performance. The base even washes the mopping cloths during and after each clean, along with refilling the vacuum’s water tank and drying the mops to prevent smells. Although the AI sensors on the vacuum did misjudge my record stand; it wedged itself under it and needed rescuing.
You’ll have to wipe down the sensors and empty the dust box occasionally, the clean water reservoir will need to be filled and the dirty water reservoir emptied; but both come out easily and latch shut, so you don’t need to worry about spilling everywhere. It was obviously too low for the sensors to pick up and too high for the machine to travel over, so I did have to go and intervene in what appeared to be some determined humping. Although the ribbed rubber brush head is only 16cm wide (16cm shorter than the unit’s entire width) it does rotate in both directions so it’s able collect debris no matter which way the robot is moving. However, when you move the vacuum this way, the map of your space disappears, and you’ll need to go back to your settings and reload your saved map – a slight inconvenience but nothing major. Plus, with App Control, you can monitor the cleaning history of your smart robotic vacuum cleaner right from your smartphone.There are things the eufy X9 Pro can do with a mop that I’ve criticised other robots for not doing, and yet it’s still not enough for me to say, OK, this is the robot servant I’ve been waiting for. Its mopping ability is a big step above the vibrating mops I’ve seen on the majority of other robot vacuums on the market. If you’re looking to invest in a high-tech robot vacuum cleaner with obstacle-avoidance technology and a self-cleaning station, we’d recommend this new launch.
