About this deal

One evening, drunkenly making his way through a city park, he meets the attractive Margaret (Laura Fraser) and soon finds himself spending the night in her loft apartment. Faint remainder mark to base; Screenplay published to coincide with release of the movie starring Rachel Griffiths who appears on the back cover as a gun toting nun. On joining his new flame at her place: "Margaret went and opened the door slightly and an elderly Jack Russell pressed his face through the gap.Pic, which takes place in 1999, unfolds against a background of a hard-fought political campaign for the new post of prime minister of Northern Ireland. Colin Batemanin "Voro-Jack" (Loki, 1998) on mustalla huumorilla ryyditetty jännitysromaani sukkelasanaisesta journalistista, joka eräänä yönä päätyy suutelemaan väärää naista ja ajautuu sen vuoksi keskelle vaarallista peliä.

Instead he's languished in supporting roles in Hollywood with other stars -- including Brando and Dennis Quaid -- who also should have known better. I’d heard good things about Colin Bateman, and decided to start with his first, a 1998 thriller set during the troubles in Northern Ireland. The sarcasm and fallibility of a hero doing all the wrong things for all the drunk reasons plays beautifully against the fast paced nature of this thriller. Samotný příběh je poměrně jednoduchý a přímočarý a – jak to u věcí z Ostrova bývá, zajímavější je obloha než samotný flák děje. A BBC Films/Winchester Films presentation of a Scala Films production, in association with the Arts Council of England and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. He has some moral core – he can’t kill a gangster in cold blood when given the chance – but it’s wafer thin.

Hard to credit it, really, but Thewlis hasn't had a lead role since his Cannes-conquering turn as the poetry-spouting and blisteringly nihilistic Johnny in Mike Leigh's Naked in 1993. The main protagonist, Dan Starkey, is a decidedly beta male (or maybe even omega of there is such a thing). What followed are pages of nonstop action where Dan tried to stay one step ahead of his pursuers but consistently failed. Have interesting times happen to your hero, and lay the clues to the mystery so your reader always wants to read just one more chapter. Grealis does state, however, that "in Dan Starkey, Bateman has created a gloriously irreverent and amusing (anti) hero" and concludes "if you can forgive the hopelessly improbable plot, 'Divorcing Jack' remains a solid and humorous debut". I learnt quite a few things about Ireland in the book, including how back in the 1970s the majority of the Northern Ireland popolustion are Protestant and they do not often visit businesses with Catholics names.
