About this deal

Take a trip back to the Academy Awards ceremonies of the recent past with Gold Derby’s Oscars Playback series. Grant for Arthur Holmwood, with another elder English aristocratic actor playing Seward, a number of criticisms of the film would be nixed.

However, the movie keeps us entranced with its visually stunning depiction where every corner of the screen is a triumph. But to sweeten the deal for this release, Sony has gone and added excellent legacy audio tracks to this disc. Qualms, niggles, and grumbles aside, I still very much enjoy this film but I’m not blind to its many faults. years later and Bram Stoker's Dracula still holds up as one of the most popular vampire movies and one of the best horror movies of all time. Awards season in early 1993 didn’t start well for “Bram Stoker’s Dracula,” the film being passed over by critics groups outside of a lone Best Cinematography win from the Chicago Film Critics. It marked Coppola’s follow-up to the Oscar-nominated “The Godfather Part III” from 1990, and it was one of Hopkins’ first major projects after winning the Best Actor Academy Award for “The Silence of the Lambs. As we enter the spooky season, big fans of all that go bump in the night take time to reflect on scares of the past and how they have aged over the years.

Gold Derby editors and Experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here break down all the snubs and surprises. After everything he put into making The Godfather, and all the Box Office success he found there, he blew almost all of it on Apocalypse Now, taking his health with it too, for good measure.

Nuance and detail is pervasive, picking up on skittering, gravity-defying rodents, wind wisping in, creaky floorboards, and echoing castle rooms, and disseminating it exquisitely across the array, crafting an encompassing, engaging, engulfing track that embraces the innate style of the production and delivers it right into your ears.

I appreciate a multifaceted villain, but you can’t forget he’s a terrible creature that deserves the stake to the heart and his head chopped off. But even those with setups that support only HDR10 will still enjoy a tremendous image with incredible details, beautiful bold colors, and as I said earlier proper subtitle font.

With Gary Oldman as the titular classic monster, the film is an artistic masterpiece even if it doesn’t completely stay true to the novel. Coppola went all-out to produce one of the most heavily effects-laden non-CG productions in the history of cinema, and all of these should rightly take their toll on the final product when held up to close - say, 4K - scrutiny. To celebrate this film’s 30th Anniversary, Sony curses physical media fanatics with a new two-disc 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray SteelBook release. The film was nominated at BAFTA in four categories: Costume Design, Make Up Artist, Production Design, and Special Effects.
