Brugse Zot is a very drinkable thirst-quencher with bags of character, brewed with four varieties of malt and two types of aroma hops. The beer has a crisp, clean finish thanks to the hops that also bring a dried-fruit-like edge to the beer. When it comes to food pairing, the beer is at its best when combined with fish and crustaceans, beef or desserts with red fruits. The beer is brewed with four different kinds of malt and two aromatic varieties of hop which give the beer its unique taste.

Brugse Zot, a city beer for Bruges brewed by De Halve Maan, was launched in 2005 by Xavier Vanneste, but its name harks back to the late Middle Ages, when the Emperor Maximilian of Austria visited Bruges. When Maximilian came to Bruges in 1488 to suppress the rebellion, the people of Bruges took the emperor as a prisoner.
