These lights are a bit too bright for me, but they do make it easy to tell which dial you’re grasping, and I’m thankful they don’t pulse, flash, or do whatever other obnoxious behavior gamer gear is always up to. The main feature on display here is the MixAmp Pro TR, which boasts new features to go with its entirely new design. The electric bass receives enough low-mid presence to drive the track, but it doesn't sound overly thumpy, while the vocals, guitar riffs, and drums can all easily be discerned in the dense mix. The headset is also incredibly comfortable, with soft cloth cushions and ear cups that cover the entire ear.Since the PS5 is now out, I thought it was the perfect time to test out some older headsets to see how they stack up on Sony's newest console. Although we don't currently test for it, they also lack an IP rating for water resistance, which is to be expected for gaming headphones. The overall difference in temperature isn't too drastic and shouldn't be much of an issue if you're sitting and gaming, though. Ultimately, each game will beg for a different EQ—though I’d be amazed if most people ever use Natural Bass.

The Astro are open-back headphones with a better soundstage, and they come with companion software that has a graphic EQ so you can customize their sound, though some users have encountered issues when trying to use it.
On the other hand, the Sennheiser might offer better value if you don’t really have a need for an app, as they are quite versatile and work with every console that has the appropriate jack, while you need a console-specific model for the Astro. There are also two buttons on the front of the device—one to activate Dolby and one to switch between any of the four customizable EQ settings. The back features the rest of its connections, including a micro USB port, an optical audio input, a 3. ASTRO Command Center software for PC and Mac users allows the customization of every input and output, as well as the creation of your own EQ settings. The SteelSeries Arctis Pro GameDAC and the Astro A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro 2019 are both impressive headphones for wired gaming.They’re very comfortable, well-built, and offer a high degree of on-the-fly adjustability when used in conjunction with the MixAmp remote, which offer physical controls for channel mixing, volume, EQ preset cycling, and surround sound activation.
