About this deal

BB cream and I go way back (not really, I just happened to try a few Korean BB’s when I was in Singapore) so I’ve been really enjoying trying out different versions that have landed in the mainstream market from Une and Garnier, amongst others, and this one was no different. I have to buff this in to the skin quite a lot to get an even coverage but It looks good if I take the time to work it in to my skin and I like the colour on me but after about an hour I get very oily and have to apply powder. I have the shade medium and I love the colour, it gives me a healthy glow without looking like I have applied too much makeup.

The way I see it a BB cream is a lighter version of a tinted moisturiser with added benefits like SPF etc. At first, I thought this was a little dark for my pale skin, but it blends in very nicely, and leaves a very nice sheer, dewy finish. I’m going to try it out over the winter months when my skin isn’t so oily as I really like the colour.

Whilst you can use it without serum or moisturiser underneath – I have trialled it both with and without, it was perfectly fine either way – in this cold weather, I do still layer a little (but less than usual) cream underneath, just for a little added protection from the cold.

Unlike other brands, No7 bb cream comes in three versions: for oily-normal, normal-dry and dry-very dry. If I had to pick just one BB Cream out of the 6 above, I would have to say the No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream. Its unique 3-in-1 formula evens and enhances skin tone and disguises imperfections, while the nutrient-enriched formula helps to banish blemishes. I know the ones sold in the UK are mostly like a tinted moisturiser and don’t have the same skincare benefits as the Asian counterparts but I like their light coverage and often dewy finish. I’ve used a couple of BB (Blemish Balm – contrary to the name, they’re not actually just to be used on troubled skin)-style creams already, and I haven’t been that impressed with them to be honest, they’ve just been tinted moisturisers that someone has slapped the BB label on.I didn't want to listen to the hype in magazines about this stuff, but found that after just over a week of use my skin felt soft and smooth. BB Creams are meant to be an all-in-one product, crossing the boundary between skincare and cosmetic, and taking the place of moisturiser, serum, primer and foundation. Affordable, but not as cheap as some of the other BB’s on the market, like Garnier for example, but then again this is a far superior product and I would happily fork out extra for it.

It did slightly even out my skintone, but I feel that it showed too many blemishes to be regarded as a quick go-to product and although it was non-patchy or sticky and did blend in nicely, if it was mine I wouldn’t repurchase it. I've been a bit disappointed with the BB creams I've tried as they've been too sheer and made me shiny but this looks good. Essentially I’d rather have nothing spread all over my face, than something that gives such a light base I’d have to dot concealer over it anyways. Hi Ria, that’s a really good point actually as I should’ve mentioned that it doesn’t break me out; the break outs I have at the moment are all in one place which likely means they’re hormonal (such fun…). Shame you couldn’t find a shade match with this one as it’s sooo good for oily skin types (from what I’ve read about the oily skin version). This offers a lovely light coverage but I find the consistency a little watery, it needs a good shake before I apply it. I’m lucky enough to work from home so most days I don’t wear any makeup but when I am venturing out of the house I tend to reach for a BB Cream. Coping with flare-ups or angry, irritated skin disrupts sleep patterns and can be very upsetting for all involved.

Although the texture is quite thick, it feels blendable once it comes into contact with skin (especially under warm fingers) and has enough slip to allow you to really work it into the face quite well. I was also looking for a lighter shade as I’ve finally had to say goodbye to the last of my summer glow.My blemishes are minimised without the heavy look and the BB cream is light on my face making that natural look with even skin tone . Overall finish: Once blended into my skin it did look slightly too light for my skin tone (but I do like picking a slightly warmer colour for my skin tone to add colour).
