Plenty of bad reviews for the vinyl edition, and out the packet the discs were both very dirty (photos attached before/after). While the group's dazzling animated videos would certainly stop any television viewer in their tracks, the music on Gorillaz is equally arresting. After cleaning and preparing both LPs I ripped them to digital using my more than adequate equipment turntable, ADC, and reciever.

The album's success earned the group an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records as the 'Most Successful Virtual Band', and spawned the singles 'Clint Eastwood', '19-2000', 'Rock the House', and 'Tomorrow Comes Today'. Didn’t realise how sought after the original pressing was, assumed it sold thousands and thousands of copies as I remember it being a big release. Mali Music' and 'Think Tank' showed that whether in Blur, or not, Albarn is a very creative, original and inventive force, not content in relying on past sounds or approaches.Normally I'm iffy about picture discs, but it seems like folks are saying the picture disc surprisingly sounds really good? Gorillaz is a virtual band founded in 1998 by Damon Albarn from Blur and comic-book artist Jamie Hewlett.

Noodle, a Japanese expat, joined the band at a young age after being shipped to them in a crate at 8 years old.

The album also features contributions from Del the Funkee Homosapien (credited as Del Tha Ghost Rapper), Tina Weymouth, Miho Hatori and Ibrahim Ferrer. The band, known for their unique concept and animated characters, has been recognized as the Most Successful Virtual Band in The Guinness Book of World Records.
