For travelling in warmer climates and those who aim to do some serious distance carrying, Osprey have developed their Airscape system with a lightweight ridged back panel to allow airflow across your back stopping sweat and the associated discomfort. Even if you don't use the big bag all that often, we found ourselves toting the day pack around often in everyday life at home.

This is in contrast with the more rigid foam side panels of the Osprey Porter 46, which made packing a breeze. However, if you don’t care about the day pack, you can save some money by getting Osprey Farpoint 40. Not just any backpanel, the strong, durable, die-cut spacer mesh hipbelt and harness allows you to carry your gear comfortably when travelling between hotels, the airport or beyond. The system is easy to adjust, which is handy, but it isn’t fun if you find the perfect height and accidentally move it in transit or when stowing the harness system away to check the bag.Unlike with the Farpoint 55, they are not designed to work perfectly together, but you can still clip the daypack into the shoulder straps of the Farpoint 40 or tuck it behind the load straps on the back. That said, I like the simplicity and how leaves it largely up to you how to organize things your own way. Its sleek design makes it a good pick for business travelers who just want something effective and basic. On the other side of the pack, the outer compression straps clean up the bag, making it more sleek and compact for travel on the baggage carousel, but also compressing it into a tighter, more maneuverable load when on your back.

We know it doesn’t seem like a huge deal, but having padded carry handles is great when you’re loading/unloading your bag. However, Osprey recommends separating the main backpack from the daypack when taking the bag as a carry-on. Its padded hip belt balances the weight on my whole body, which is a very rare find in other travel backpacks.

I really like the concept of having two bags, using the attached daypack for trips around cities not having to carry the big one.
