About this deal

Spirecrest adds a new phase to the game that each player will work through immediately after performing their ‘prepare for season’ action. We each visited the Market enough to collect the first run of resources, but it was hardly worthwhile in the grand scheme except as a way to bypass the grip of Spirecrest’s shackles on the Meadow and resources. Not content with merely laying claim to the Everdell kingdom, the sneaky rat has decided to hire a suspicious looking critter whose mission is to track your rabbit explorer along the twisting path through the mountains of Spirecrest.

The left card would be free, the middle costs 1 card or resource and the right card cost 2 cards or resources.Speaking of, the life of a woodland critter is not always sunshine and rainbows as evident by the introduction of the Weather Cards. While it adds considerable strategic depth to your game, it does so while adding very little setup time and hardly any game length. and mine having 20 thanks to a Farm/Greenhouse combo that was outside the city, a Legend/Harvester combo, and others. I didn’t realize at the time that board games could be much more than your average game of Sorry or Trouble.

Only by paying the resource cost will you be eligible to score the associated amounts of victory points during the final tally. Finally, as part of the Explore action you will perform the Travel step where you move your rabbit to the next uncharted region of the mountain board. The second edition of Spirecrest includes 8 big critters, but you’ll likely only see a few of them per game. The king is throwing an unprecedented year-long event to commemorate the 100th year since Everdell's founding. The standard expansion ships with five of these Big Critter: Stubblehoof the moose, Honeypaw the bear, King Rhun the mountain goat, Whisper the wolf, and Windlore the eagle. Expanding the city capacity from 15 to 17 is an understated design decision that allows for greatness but still leaves players wanting to try again. Spirecrest is an expansive and challenging expansion, sure to surprise and delight even the most seasoned of Everdell players.

If you’ve ever played Viticulture, it is similar to the Grande Worker or the Special Workers in Viticulture: Tuscany Essential Edition. Spirecrest adds several exciting and challenging new mechanics and features to the Everdell base game. Unlike the Bellfaire expansion, Spirecrest is not modular and you either play with or without the full expansion. This mechanic, which determines how Critters are claimed for “free” via a Construction, requires a bit of attention, but it bridges the gap well. I wager this bet because the Discovery Cards is where you can score yourself one of the lovely Big Critters that come in the expansion.

With those Rabbits ambling the treacherous path, the Weather lets loose many unfortunate circumstances upon the Meadow. To me, this is not a substantial increase when compared to the retail equivalent that comes with 33 Discovery cards and five Big Critters. I’ve had a chance to peruse the contents and layouts and I stand by my decision for one reason: At most, I only need one box expansion at a time. On the plus side, the Player Powers are a lovely concept to offset the higher player counts for those who are so brave. Each player’s journey through the mountainous regions of Spirecrest is symbolised by the Traveller i.

The catch is that, at the end of the game, you must move from map tile to map tile, so if you don’t complete one, you can’t complete the next ones in line.So each area will have a selection of map tiles, one more than the number of players, and it’s own stack of discovery cards.
