About this deal
I see others saying it is smokey/cigarettey from others in the comments, as I have to kick my bad habit anyway, this isn't an issue for me, however I personally don't get cigarette notes in this at all! It’s been a while since I tried MG so I can’t do a complete comparison, but it’s satisfied my desire to find something close to MG’s vanilla, and I’m no longer looking. The bergamot, sage, and jasmine make a simply lovely first impression; and base notes of lily-of-the-valley and vanilla truly bring this scent together for a sexy, mysterious, even witchy scent.
This is nothing like Mon Guerlain in any of it's forms, I'm not sure where everyone is getting that! To me this smells actually like a mix between Mon Guerlain and Burberry Brit, two of my all time favourite fragrances. But on my skin it doesn't come off masculine or even pleasantly medicinal like Lovely by SJP--a fragrance I like, regardless of how much it smells like MG. It's an ok fragrance but I don't see myself running out to repurchase when mon Guerlain is giving from the opening to the dry down. All other terms and conditions, express or implied by statute or otherwise are excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law.
It opens pretty fresh/herbal(I think it's the sage and bergamot), and when it dries down I get more vanilla, I would describe that as a warm/sweet smell. In a long, inexpensive simple velvet black dress and my hair done at home, wearing gloves to my elbows and gorgeous diamond-like earrings, drinking whiskey in a round glass and watching the fire cracking in the fireplace with a nice gentleman by my side, adoring me in the dim light while the snowstorm rages outside. For me, the main differences between Mon Guerlain and GSN is not only that MOn Guerlain is way more classy, sohisticated and refined and not only the lack of lavender notes in Seductive Noir but also this deep, dark, a bit sticky jasmine note in SD while the jasmine in Mon Guerlain smells clean and airy somehow. Could work for both day and night, but I would reapply if I wanted to take it all day into the night.
I do get the unisex reference; not a fan of older style, traditional cloyingly floral or popular gourmet sweet / fruity / mixed drink scents anyhow. Guess in the opening is sweeter, the lavender is missing and it’s leaning a tiny bit towards masculine side but that lasts only about 5 minutes. However, I do find this fragrance to be quite synthetic; it has the potential to give someone a headache. In the beginning smells like an after shave, dark, masculine and than changed into something creamy and powdery and how it's name said into something seductive. I do get a faint hint of tobacco, which isn't listed, but I think it's sage or possibly just coumarin confusing my synapses again--there is definitely a nutty almond quality to the base, which might just be a characteristic of the vanilla.
