Just wanted to let you know how wonderful I think your product Hoof-Stuff is. I have four barefooted horses and Hoof-Stuff is a main everyday item that we use too fill in any small or large crevices in the hoof, it stays put through any weather, mud, stones sand etc. The hoof grows out with no problems. Your product is the best I’ve come across recommended to all bare footers out there.???????? My horse is prone to hoof odour and white line degradation. For peace of mind I ensure I have Arti Mud and Hoof-Stuff to keep these problems under control.” We recommend flushing with Sole Cleansebut anything ‘gentle’ will suffice e.g. salt water, dilute vinegar etc. Avoid flushing with iodine, peroxide, bleaches etc. as these may damage otherwise healthy tissues. The first is where the shoe came off in the field and took some hoof wall with it. So there's a bit of hoof not touching the floor already and there's a small hole under there. It's quite shallow and I can easily to get in to clean it and squirt it with whatever but given that it's already a little way up from ground level I don't want it to travel any further. I was looking this morning to see if I thought the farrier would be able to cut it away without compromising what's left to stand on and I'm undecided. It’s always best to trim cautiously at first as the hoof gets used to being ‘naked’ and strengthens up. My horse Arnie had a terrible foot abscess a while ago where the vet decided to cut open a large part of the front of his hoof thinking the abscess was there and to relieve the pain, however it was much deeper than this and the abscess eventually burst at the coronet! You need to ensure that the fissure is very clean, if there is any dirt in there it will hurt, you will get toe first landings and it won't improve any. Take a medical swab (gauze or similar - it doesn't have to be sterile) dip it in a similar disinfectant and use it to "floss" the fissure, to sweep out any particles of mud or gravel. Hoof Stuff, even after heavy rain and in mud, kept the hole in my horses foot completely clean and the speed at which the hoof repaired can only be described as amazing! It's not sheared heels, but it is a significant thrush infection (and a very long foot! that is an exceptional amount of growth for 5 weeks)
