While you have to suspend some logical belief when reading these books (Finlay seems to just always happen to find herself in the middle of the action, find the right clue at the right time, be told top secrets, etc.), that’s also what makes the series so entertaining. Of note, I read a print copy of the first book and listened to the audiobooks for the remainder of the series, and I honestly enjoyed both formats. I think you can easily choose either and have a great reading experience. Well I’m Rafiki and this book will be Simba anytime any of my suburban book club member friends (“SBCMFs”) ask me what they should read next in 2021. The Finlay Donovan books are light, escapist, funny, smart, intriguing, suspenseful, and even romantic! They would also make for indulgent beach reads. This book puts the F in fun! It is such an original plot that is was so refreshing to read. It was a part thriller, mystery with a side of twisted humor- all wins in my book!

I was also anxious about Finlay getting over her head. The one saving grace was Vero. I want a Vero in my life. She was the perfect babysitter and friend anyone should have. She makes her meeting with her agent, at a Panera, of all places, and they have a great, albeit slightly stressful discussion about Finlay's career.Finlay Donovan Is Killing It is a hilarious, ultra-modern Cozy Mystery that will leave you simultaneously on the edge-of-your-seat and clutching your sides with laughter. I loved the relationship between Finlay & Vero! Vero was always there for Finlay no matter what & I loved that friendship!
