About this deal

Easily upgrade to a drive that’s compatible with Gen4 motherboards and fully backwards compatible with all PCIe 3.

Launched to the first mainstream products in 2019 at the same time as the third generation of Ryzen desktop CPUs and the first AMD Navi-based graphics cards, PCIe 4. version doubles the bandwidth ceiling of the last, taking the maximum theoretical throughput of PCIe 3.It's a general indicator of how consistently a drive can perform through 23 different usage scenarios, meaningful only compared with the scores of other, competing drives. The drive is filled to 85% capacity with data and then some is deleted, leaving around 60% used space on the volume. Built to amp up the world’s best games, the FireCuda ZP1000GM3A002 SSD is out-of-the-box compatible with the latest generation of powerful AMD Ryzen processors, which are all about more cores, more cache, more tech and more I/O. I included the same discussion in our review of the TeamGroup T-Force Cardea Zero Z440, but it bears repeating here if you haven't read that review.

The FireCuda 520 series uses a Phison 16 controller (the only such beast we’re aware of at the moment) managing 96-layer TLC (Triple-Level Cell/3-bit) NAND. storage is a nice incidental upgrade, but so far, it's not proving to be a strong singular impetus to build a new PC. This gaming drive is out-of-the-box compatible with the latest generation of powerful AMD Ryzen™ processors. Seagate has installed 96-layer TLC NAND flash on the FireCuda 520, the flash chips are made by Toshiba.

Powered by the latest 3D TLC NAND technology, this plug-and-play SSD is equipped with staying power—handling upwards of 1200TB total bytes written with ease. The FireCuda 520 comes in capacities of 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB, so it features a little more over-provisioning than SSDs with 512GB, 1024GB, and 2048GB capacities. While its overall score wasn’t the best, thanks largely to a deficit writing smaller files, the 520 blew away the other drives with the large 48GB single file. The new-for-2020 Intel-based Z490 boards that rolled out with the company's 10th Generation "Comet Lake-S" desktop processors don't have support for PCIe 4. Pair a 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen Desktop Processor (not included) with this FireCuda ZP1000GM3A002 SSD for the ultimate PC gaming combination.

CrystalDiskMark is a useful benchmark to measure theoretical performance levels of hard drives and SSD’s.

Powered by the 3D TLC NAND technology, this plug-and-play SSD is equipped with staying power - handling upwards of 1,200 TB total bytes written with ease. This and following PCMark 10-derived tests represent a simulation of how quickly a drive is capable of launching a particular program (or, in this case, booting Windows 10). Seagate’s Firecuda 520 offers increased sustained transfer rates over PCIe 4, and top-flight performance over PCIe 3.
