About this deal

The real suffering will be returning to the five-minute granola bar routine in my car before arriving at the school for my first lesson. I look around the restaurant at the other guests enjoying their meals and feel grateful to be able to experience this kind of luxury, even if it's just for a short time. I give him my best smile. “You know, I’ll have to chase you across the resort if you won’t take this. Don’t forget that I know which bungalow you’re staying in.” Blurb {from Goodreads.com}: A paradise island. Two strangers. The attraction they never saw coming…

There are abs. I see them out of the corner of my eye. Distinct lines chiseled into a flat stomach and faintly smattered with dark hair that disappears into his trunks.

More often than not, I feel like summer romances really focus on the couple and we miss out on the travel and the landscapes and the culture. Thanks to the tech gods, the Wi-Fi from the hotel stretches all the way over here, and I’m halfway through the newest episode of my favorite true crime podcast. Beside me is an ice-cold glass of lemonade, courtesy of the gentleman who just walked across the beach selling drinks. Always interested in literature and romance from an early age, Olivia Hayle would seek to make her own imprint on the genre in the years to follow. Growing up with a keen passion for the form, she’d continually be looking for new ideas to help inform both her and her work. Developing her voice and her style, she would become highly adept at the format, establishing her own unique brand and outlook. Philip Meyer is a grumpy workaholic, and so irritatingly cynical that it makes her forget she's grieving just to prove him wrong about the world. The two have nothing in common... except trying to forget who they've left behind.

He shakes my hand twice, a firm grip, like we’re in a business meeting. “Thank you again, Eden, for not relegating me to a convenience store. I appreciate it.” Next to me, a man clears his throat. “There you are,” he says to me. “Sorry, I’m late. Table for two, actually.” I figured, from your scathing critique of newlyweds,” he says. There’s dry amusement in his tone. Almost like he wants this conversation to end, but can’t quite bring himself to stop engaging. I find myself smiling. He’s like one of the grumpy five-year-olds in my class when they haven’t had their nap. Except he’s probably a thirtysomething and a workaholic, which means odds are he hasn’t had a nap in a decade.I think this may be one of my favorite vacation romances. Grumpy/sunshine that was SO good!! He wasn’t a rude asshole like I see often with this trope he just wasn’t talkative at first and focused on working. I wish this was dual pov and we got to see Philip’s thoughts but I loved this so much!! There’s no reply. Curiosity gets the better of me and I rise on my toes, peering over the shrubbery.
